It always excites me to see a new collectible product hit the stores that creates a frenzy, and for the 2008-2009 Christmas season with no end in sight enters Bakugan Battle Brawlers. The new exciting Trading Card Game that is creating such a stir was created from a Japanese Animation of the same name. The Cartoon was first aired in Japan in 2007, later on it's Debut on the Canadian cartoon network called Teletoon, and finally on the Cartoon Network in the US in February 2008, which was also the release date of the game.
Never before in the past have we seen a trading card game like this, it is similar to other trading card games using strategy in the placement of the Bakugan Booster Packs cards, although the similarities end there. Adding the skill of the age old game of marbles, sphere shaped miniatures are shot with the intent of coming to rest on one of the metal trading cards. The uniquely designed marbles have a magnetically triggered spring which opens up the miniature into the shape of a dragon or robot ready for battle.
When two different players Bakugan land on the same card a battle sequence begins. The small figures themselves have a set number of g-points, and the card that they land on either add to, or take away g-points, the player with the most g-points, wins the card and the 2 bakugan. There are many more aspects to the game with special attribute cards and other surprises to sway the battle one way or the other.
2-4 players are able to play the game at the same time, while each player needs 3 marbles and 3 metal gate cards from the Bakugan Booster Packs. The Gate cards are heavier than the other cards due to them being metal which triggers the miniatures to open.
But parents be warned, your kids will not be satisfied with just one set, and it could result into an obsession similar to my comic collecting days. Nonetheless the Bakugan Brawlers Trading Card game is flying off the shelves faster than they can be stocked, and it is just as exciting to me as it is to the youngsters that are collecting them.
Some of the assortment of items you can find are Bakugan Booster Packs, starter Packs, battle arenas, books, dvd's and countless other products. Now consider yourself informed when your children approach you and ask for this new and exciting trading card game.
